Dear Parents and carers

Hopefully everyone has had a lovely bank holiday weekend. We found that the weather certainly made a difference and made us appreciate our time off even more.

Lending library
We appreciate that sometimes our nursery foyer may look a bit messy when you enter, but just a reminder that the clutter does serve a purpose. The books that are there belong to nursery and children are welcome to borrow them at any time to take home. The intention is for children to enjoy books by taking different one’s home and find what they like. Anyone is welcome to use this, so please just help yourself with your little one. The other side is full of random baby/child paraphernalia- again please help yourself. It maybe items that have been donated or things we no longer need in nursery, but we’d love for it to find a new home. We hate waste at nursery so please if you can find things a new home or know someone that can then please make use of any items on the shelves.

Baby and toddler spaces September
We are constantly being contacted with enquiries for children’s spaces for the under 3’s at moment. Many wanting spaces now or from September. We appreciate it’s hard to forward plan but if you are thinking of increasing your child’s nursery sessions then please do let us know as soon as you can. Just in case anyone has missed the information, from September babies from 9 months of age, will receive childcare funding. This means demand is only going to increase as more children become entitled and want spaces in nurseries.

We love Madeley
Last Monday, we made a trip to Madeley orchard with a handful of children. It was lovely visiting and seeing our flowerbeds in full bloom. The children liked weeding them and looking at the different flowers and colours. We handpicked some rhubarb for nursery and cut some willow for whittling at forest school. We also visited Madely library last week. We wanted to borrow some books for our next Hygge topic and have a look around. We will plan in a few more of these trips over the next term. It’s lovely working with the children in small groups and a really great learning experience for them.

Football session

On Monday 20th May, we are fortunate enough to have kickstars football company coming in to do a training session for the preschool children. Nursery has paid for this experience, using money everyone raised from the Easter raffle (thank you). We are confident the children will love this and coach Jo, does make it so much fun.

Amazon wish list
Here is the link to our wish list if anyone is interested in having a look. The items on there are great for enhancing our provision and the children’s learning and development. https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/2A1VV4GAJBIVB?ref_=wl_share

Forest school
We had a very busy forest school session last week. The children asked for the slack line up so they could practice their balancing but then we focussed on a new skill of whittling. Using vegetable peelers, we whittled some willow sticks down. This is great for improving dexterity but also requires some good concentration skills as children listen and follow directions. They all had a go and loved the challenge. Well done preschool. This week is group B’s turn, and we will be using peelers again, as well as the hand drill.
